Relaxing in the Underwater World

Can we use Virtual Reality to help people relax?

Virtual Reality is about to become widely avaliable to people. Affordable devices are being developed for PC (Oculus Rift),  Playstation (Project Morpheus) or for Smartphones (Gear VR). In our research project we investigate if Virtual Reality can enhance current stress management techniques and help people to relax. We use relaxing breathing methods and combine them with state-of-the-art Virtual Reality such that the user is immersed in a beautiful underwater environment. While the body is relaxed through resonant breathing the mind is allowed to put aside stressful thoughts and instead explores the beauty of the ocean and its lifeforms.

Try it in your browser. We also offer a Windows desktop version or a VR version for the Oculus Rift DK1 in the download section.
